Engineering claims should survive contact with the record.
Two practitioner papers about building with probabilistic tools. Deterministic checks make selected claims repeatable; observed outcomes and accountable judgment decide what becomes real. Consequential changes remain testable, reversible, and tied to evidence.
Judgment Is the Control Plane
AI increases the amount of work an engineer can generate and challenge. It does not inherit responsibility for architecture, evidence, release, recovery, or consequence.
The model produces work. The engineer produces the conditions under which that work is allowed to become real.
Building an AI Research System That Can Prove Its Work
An orchestrated research system had sophisticated statistical machinery and weak operational feedback. The audit, not the architecture diagram, produced the transferable engineering result.
Legacy execution paused. Data collection continues. The replacement is being built around observable completion and closed feedback loops.
The HMAS paper also includes a separate detailed technical record preserving the architecture, mathematics, research engine, execution path, and appendices.
